How do I edit & save VCDs/DVDs etc.

Dear Linux geeks

Is there any program with which I can cut/edit and save parts of a VCD or DVD to my harddisk? Like a fav scene?

Kino does not open VCD files....haven't tried with DVDs though.

What kind of files does Kino or Kdenlive edit??

Please help.

Best regards
CoolBlue

dvd::rip can rip your DVDs to avis, mpg, or whatever. Then it is just a matter of editing them. I don't know of a good editor.
