Unhappy how do I download? I'm totally lost !!


When I try to download software from the net, all seems to go well from the download point, but nothing comes up on my Asus 701...

Also: I have no idea which format I'm using.... ie, RedHat,
et. al. I have Modzilla on my eee pc ....

arghh! Great travel pc, just need some initial help...

What are you downloading? Give us an example.

Do you mean what distribution are you using?

If you open a terminal, and do:

# cat /etc/issue
This might help get some insight what distro you're using.

If you are using a eeepc then the distro should be xandros.

wnen downloading it asks what to do with the file, choose save and location for example /home/yourname/downloads, I don't know how a EEE PC is configured ..., anyway look in /home and its subdirectories for files.

I would choose ubuntu as your first distribution of linux. One you download that file to your windows desktop and click to open it, it will reboot your computer and begin an internet installation of ubuntu linux.
