How do I disable my firewall?
Ok, through a great deal of assistance from this board I finally have a few things up and running.
Now, when I double click on Samba Shares I get the following response: "Unable to find any workgroups in your local network. This might be caused by an enabled firewall." Soo, for the time being how do I disable the firewall. I realize it is taboo, just want to make certain this is the issue.. Slackware 12.1 KDE 3.5 T1 going through a router, while the server (the linux server) is plugged directly into the T1 box and has it's own static ip. Thanks for the assistance you guys have been very helpful. |

For Fedora/RHEL/CentOS based distros, use chkconfig iptables off to prevent it from starting automatically. If you want to do a temporay disable, then issue a service iptables stop at the command prompt.
