How do I define a range in OpenOffice Calc?
 

Here's a random question about OpenOffice:

I want to define a range that is relative to local sheets. For example, I want the variable "foo" to be equal to the cell D3 in whatever sheet I'm currently in. Whenever I try to use Data > Define Range, it refers to the sheet that I originally set the variable.

In other words:
Name of Range: foo
Range: $'sheet1'.$D$3

I want for foo to access D3 in whatever sheet I'm in, not just sheet1. Is there a keyword I have to use in place of sheet1?

Sorry for the silly question. I'm using 2.4 in Xubuntu, though I doubt that holds any helpful information.

There is not a Global Variable concept in OO Calc. You can if have both spreadsheets open, you can press = within a cell in one and use the mouse to select a cell or range in the other. That "links" the two spreadsheets, and the calling spreadsheet will offer to relink with the other(s) each time you load.
