How do I compile the latest kernel for SuSE 9.0?

Gang:

I am running SuSE 9.0 with kernel v. 2.4.215 and I Want to start using kernel v. 2.6.7 however I am no longer hooked up to the internet and can't get YAST to do it for me (another long story). I have downloaded the kernel in bzip2 form and now just need to, well do everything. How do I go about this? I have never upgraded the kernel manually so I know I should treat lightly. I have compiled programs from source before but like I said nothing this major. Anyone want to help me out?

Cheers
