How do I change screen resolution for Xwindows?

Hello,
I'm trying to change to change the resolution in xwindows from
640x480 to 800x600. Does anyone know how to do this?

Ctrl-Alt-+ will let you cycle through the different resolutions available.

If you are running KDE, go to the panel->System tools->Screen Resolution/Resize

In Gnome, panel->System Tools->Screen Resize/Rotate

nope,
Tried that doesn't work..... Nothing happens.

can't find what your talkin about maybe my screen won't show me all options.
