Hi

Welcome to LQ.

As a matter of fact, yes, you do have to set your BIOS first boot device to USB. Not all motherboard BIOSs support this feature, but most newer ones (less than 3 years) do.

Hope this helps

Bob

I think that "Removable" refers to the floppy drive and the CDROM.

I figured out how to boot from flash drive by refering to it as a HARD DRIVE. But when i boot it it displays an error message.

Could be bios problem - my own pc wont boot usb stick if grub is the bootloader but will boot if syslinux is used, other pc boots anything. ie doesnt boot kanotix-mini which uses grub but will boot dsl which has syslinux. See this also http://www.damnsmalllinux.org/wiki/i...hp/USB_Booting

Once I have sorted the BIOS issue, how do I actually transfer my grub to a usb disk so that I can boot off it?
