How can i upgrade fedora 10 to fedora 14?

My office has 20-25 computers with fedora configured. The main server has fedora 10 which contain lots of server role install on it. Now, I have to upgrade it to fedora 14/15 for some technical reason but I don't want to lose my data as well as I have to retain my server role on it. Please suggest me solution for these.

Hello,

To upgrade from 10 to 14 is a bad idea..... You are better off backing up your data, and doing a clean install. Also, you should install either Fedora 15 or 16, as the end of life for Fedora 14 is about to come up (On December 8, 2011).

Cheers,

Josh

Edit - I also want to add that if this is indeed a real server, running Fedora, I highly suggest that you switch distros, since Fedora is a rolling release distro. You should a distro that isn't ended every X amount of months, especially since end of life distros do not receive any more updates. This is bad, since you need to be on top of system updates to minimize severe bugs and exploits.

This is also the reason Fedora doesnt make for a good server OS.

Perhaps in the process of upgrading via a fresh install, it would benefit you to look into CentOS..

For the most part, Fedora and CentOS will function the same, and be configured in the same manner (file locations, package managers, init scripts, etc).

But CentOS is a far more stable platform for a server environment. And also sustains a much longer support lifespan than Fedora's current - 2, release schedule, as said by Corp769

You can, but I guarantee you that it is not worth the hassle, and the dependency hell..... Not trying to sound mean, but you should have upgraded to 11 back when 11 first came out, then to 12, 13, etc.
