Post How can I run Videos I burned onto a CD using Windows Vista in Ubuntu?

Hi all ,
I burned some videos into a CD using Windows Vista and then tried to view and run these files in Ubuntu without success.

Whenever I insert the CD while I'm logged into Ubuntu or if I try to view the files inside the CD I get the following error:

Cannot mount volume.invalid mount option when attempting to mount volume "udf Volume"

Any help is much appreciated.

Thanks You!

Regards

Thanks for the link. I have a question. I person in the thread you provided solved the problem by using Wine and ISOBUSTER. Im trying to run video files from a CD so its not an ISO. What program could i use along with wine to run these video files?

I tried using the classic media player in wine but the file direcrtories dont allow me access to the CDRom drive.

"The International Organization for Standardization (ISO) is a worldwide federation of national standards bodies from some 140 countries...", that among other things, defines standards for things like how CD roms are formatted.

So, do as the guy in that link says: Install wine, get ISOBUSTER and give it a go.

In future if you want your CDs to be readable by anything other than vista, do not burn them with vista. Even winxp cannot read CDs burnt on vista it seems.

Question can you possibly burn with another program....

Can you try using an app like nero or alcohol 120% in vista to re-burn the files and try with that disk, I have never used vista to burn a disk, but I would assume that they give you the option to do so from explorer again as in XP. Maybe you could use a live cd get the files burned with ubuntu instead of vista, or try copying them to a flash drive etc. then to the ubuntu machine and add them to cd from ubuntu if you so desire. Of course I am assuming you have access to the vista machine, if not try the previous suggestion of isobuster, you may be able to find a trial version on their site. there has to be a way to create disks in vista that other operating systems can read, maybe not with the built in tools though.
