Big question. You need to set up a mail server, and in FC6 you'll have sendmail by default. Consider switching to postfix, and have a look at www.postfix.org for plenty of howtos.

Note that if you do this you will need to run system-switch-mail to tell the system which MTA you are using

You will also need to open port 25 on your firewall

To receive mails using Evolution first you should know IP address of your POP or Imap server and username , password for your account.
If you have all this info. then In evolution goto tools->settings->add

Write your name and email id then mention server type POP or IMAP then type in IP address of your server and username.

Next time when you start the Evolution it will ask you password of your email account and if it is authenticated by server it will display your mail folders with mails.

You do not need to open the TCP port 110 on your local machine.
You just need to connect to that port (or better IMAP's one) on your company's mail server.

Without any error messages all we can say is: something is wrong. For instance pine can be set into debug mode, do not know about mail clients you are using there. You need to find a way to get error messages.

my error message is " authorization failed " it seem my password was wrong but not like that.
i can receive my mail in WIndows with Password which i type in LInux but only get success in WinOS not in LinuxOS.
Im using Fedora core 6.0

I have try disable my email account from winOS. and recreate account in Linux but ..same result, cant received mail.
Now if i want read email with company account (POP3 server not support for Webmail, right?) ,i must switch to WInOS to received mail. In linux i can send mail to everywhere.

#sudo /sbin/iptables -A INPUT -i eth0 -p tcp --sport 110 -m state --state ESTABLISHED

i havejust type above command but nothing is change

#nmap -p 110 localhost

Starting Nmap 4.11 ( http://www.insecure.org/nmap/ ) at 2006-12-25 11:29 JST
Interesting ports on localhost.localdomain (127.0.0.1):
PORT STATE SERVICE
110/tcp closed pop3

Anybody can help me
Thanks a lot

Authorization failed means the username or the password you use is wrong, nothing to do with firewalling.

I would suggest to sniff the traffic when using windows then when using linux, and compare the initial dialog between the mail client and its server.

Pine has connection debugging feature. (Don't know about mail clients you are using.)
