How can I make steam games run better?

When I try to run TF2 on linux it runs horribly. I cant even play it. I have to go into htop to shut it down. Is there a reason this is happening? and how can I fix it. I have an i7 and gt 750m which is plenty.

are you using the nvidiav driver or nouveau ?
i Berkshire nouveau doesn't have support for 3-d
please provide the output for lsmod.

Open a terminal, type "lsmod" (without quotes) and press Enter. Then use your pointer/mouse to copy and paste the output in to [code] tags in a post in this thread on this forum.

Hi,

from the lsmod output I can see that you are using the free nouveau driver. If the performance is not satisfactory you may like to try using the non-free drivers from Nvidia. You seem to be posting from a machine running Ubuntu, so see http://help.ubuntu.com/community/Bin...erHowto/Nvidia.

HTH,

Evo2.
