How can I install Wine without being conected to the internet?

I want to switch over to Unbutu 9.10 and I intend to run some .exe files on it. But to do that I need to install Wine. Unfortunately the only way I found to do that requires being connected to the internet in Unbutu. And I can connect to internet only by pluging in a modem and running executable file afterwards which is something I can't currently do with Unbutu.

Though using Synaptic to install Wine will help you reduce your headache a lot, you can still install wine from the precompiled sources or compile manually from source.

Go to > http://www.winehq.org/download/ <

Download the Ubuntu packages, install and use.

Didn't quite managed to do it. Looks like I'm not yet so familiar with the linux environment.
Could you give me detailed step by step instructions?

I think apt-offline may solve your problem. Basically using this tool you should be able to download the wine packages on you windows box, put them on a usb stick (or similar) and then install them on your debian box.

Please note however, that I have never used this tool.

Also, I think you would be better trying to get your network working instead of using this sort of hack. I strongly suggest you start another thread explaining the network problems.
