Windows Software

While it is possible to install MS Windows software on Linux (using emulators like WINE http://www.winehq.com/) it is far better to find native applications that will do what you want to do. For instance, instead of trying to get MS Office working why not check out OpenOffice.org (Linux office suit) http://www.openoffice.org/
Hope this is helpful

Network with MS XP

To be able to network to MS XP you need to set up a SAMBA client. This is in YAST under Network Services. Once set up you should be able to connect to XP - I haven't do it myself though ;-)
