Wow, a great question -- lots of detail, hard to go wrong with all this information. Based on your very informative description, I would:

1. Get from from my position sitting at the Sun virtual box.

2. Walk across the room.

3. Sit down at the Fedora 11 machine.

If this doesn't work for you, perhaps you could provide more detail. Information like:

1. Is this one machine or two?

2. Is the sun virtual machine a client of the Fedora machine, or is the Fedora 11 machine a client of the Sun machine, or are both machines clients of some third machine, or what?

Installing applications in Fedora 11 is basically the same for real installations and for installations within virtual boxes, I guess! Try the Add/Remove Applications menu or use yum on the commandline.
