Do you mean Red Hat? The free Red Hat Linux has been discontinued long time ago (last release was 9.0). Now the free testing version of Red Hat is called Fedora (current release Fedora 10). If you want a system which is the actual Red Hat, try CentOS. Links to download the CD/DVD iso are available here at LQ by clicking "Download Linux" in the menu on the right. Otherwise you can get them from their official sites.

welcome,

if you need to run the older version due to the requirements (like software) you must look through underground sites.

It should be possible to install recent Fedora version on older versions as well, though it makes sense to limit the number package sets, and also to avoid large desktops like Gnome and KDE, and rather switching to fluxbox or WindowMaker.

Recent Fedora versions come in DVD's or DVD-isofiles, so having a DVD drive is certainly a big help. Otherwise a network install or mounting the DVD isofiles is also possible, but this can be quite complicated, so it's not something a Beginner should do right at start.

That would be a good name for a new distro. Its logo could be a skinny, blonde with a lazy eye..With the logo..
"Thats Hot"..lol
