How can I get an Old Compaq Armada 7730MT to Boot Linux from CDROM?

I want to Install TinyMe Linux on this old thing but it won't let me Boot from CD Rom. It only wants to Boot into Windows.
Thanks

You should be able to choose the boot device at POST, just as the machine loads its BIOS. It should display a message, something like this

Press F2 to enter SETUP or press F12 to change the boot order.

You can use either. In the SETUP utility you can set the boot order (make sure the CDROM option is above the HD one), or just choose the boot device for one time boot.

Well Sir, I would do that but when I boot all I get is the memory size on the top left of the screen and a flashing tab on the top right, Then it boots into Win 98. After some checking I found out how to get into Compaq Diagnostics but that does not have a boot order feature. I have tried all the other F buttons but can't get into the BIOS. Is there another way? I have changed the boot order on several systems but this one has me stumped!
Thanks for your Help.

From what I remember about old Compaq stuff, try the F1 or F2 keys...hit them repeatedly when you turn the system on. You may also have to hit <ESC>-F1 or <ESC>-F2, depending on the model.

F1, F2, and F10 are the common "get me into bios setup" keys...good luck

I think, it's F10 that you're supposed to hit when the square flashes in the upper-right corner. At least that's what google says

That model may not be capable of booting from CD. If it has a floppy drive, you may be able to create a bootable floppy that can read the kernel image from the CD and get linux running that way. I have seen this technique described but you'll have to google or search for the details.

I would like to Thank All of You for your Quick Response. I am currently waiting for a Floppy Drive and will try that. The Function Keys just don't seem to get me anywhere but System Diagnostics.
In the next couple of days I'll let you know of my progress.

Thanks Again
