I tried all four of those and they didn't work. I added a screenshot of my nvidia-settings panel.

I don't want to use another DE because I really like gnome3. I've tried MATE, XFCE, KDE, LXDE, Openbox, GNOME, and Windowmaker (with one monitor) and I found that GNOME suits me best.

I only mentioned because I noticed you were putting "1:0" which is not the correct format.
As to another DE I did say "... for testing purposes if nothing else." because it's pretty darn tricky to open a terminal and type "echo $DISPLAY", for example, when you can't open a terminal...
You really will have to try these things out methodically and work out how your system is set up.

Corrected this and it worked! Thanks, glad you caught that.

There's still a few more problems though. It's very buggy.

Running

Code:
DISPLAY=:1.1 emulationstation
Just makes my primary monitor go black while the secondary display remains the same. Applications on my second display use the Numix gtk while my primary display uses the Arc gtk. Some applications (like firefox) don't have a window border.

I'm skeptic that using another DE will fix this but I'll give it a try if you still want me to.

I mentioned another DE for testing purposes to find out what each display was called and the like... Having said that I use XFCE and it works -- I've not messed around with GNOME but initial indications were it didn't "just work" as XFCE did with "separate x sessions". You might need to mess with GNOME's configuration to tell it to manage both X sessions though I wouldn't know how to do that, sorry.

I tried XFCE and it works just as it should, save for emulationstation (which just opens in the primary monitor)

I think it may be because emulationstation opens another application, which by default would just open on my first display. I'll have to ask.

I looked through GNOME's control panel and haven't found much. It seems to only recognize my computer monitor. I might start another thread on managing two X sessions with GNOME.

That could be worth trying -- if you do remember to state that you're using the proprietary NVIDIA driver and set it to "seperate X sessions" (or however it reads, I forget) in nvidia-settings so that those replying don't have to ask about video hardware and the like.
