Before you click on the 'log on' button of LQ.org, click the box 'keep me logged in'
Or something like that, don't know the exact naming

EDIT
Checked it
Fill in your username and password and next to it, there is a box 'Remember me' which you need to click.
That should do it

At least, I'm using Firefox and even when I shutdown my laptop and reboot it after the night and then when I go to LQ.org, I'm automatically logged on..

Try this, not using IE8.. So let us know if it is working or not.
Also, the link is for IE7, but I don't think it is much different.

Why are you even using IE when there are better and less evil browsers out there?

Was also thinking about that
But perhaps it's a company laptop/pc and they can restrict it to use only IE .. (bad choice, I know..)

You can enable cookies from within IE, use the options from menu.

Login LQ be sure to tick "Remember Me" so that you will not be booted out upon idle.

To refresh press Ctl+R.

Goodluck.

right-click on page, if there is an autorefresh then you can enable there & set how often to refresh.

But be warned auto-refresh can be a pain because if it refreshes while posting it deletes what you've written that is not already sent.
