Hi,

welcome to LQ.

Can you not select "Add Interface" sub menu from the "View" menu?

It might help if you tell us what you mean by

Are you describing how you installed vlc? Can you elaborate? Also it might be useful if you tell us what OS distribution and version you are running.

Ok. Please note that the current version of Fedora is 19 and that Fedora 17 has not been supported since July. You should either upgrade or reinstall a current distribution. Note also that Fedora is quite a fast moving distro normally used by more advanced users. It is not the best choice for everyone.

Can you be more specific? Did you follow the instructions at https://www.videolan.org/vlc/download-fedora.html?

I think you can not open VLC by default if you are root. You have to be user to use vlc.

Are you not getting the interface option?
Preferences > interface > main Interface

If you want to add web interface, you should see this

eklavya is correct. If you try to open vlc as root, it throws and error message.

Code:
VLC is not supposed to be run as root. Sorry.
If you need to use real-time priorities and/or privileged TCP ports
you can use vlc-wrapper (make sure it is Set-UID root and
cannot be run by non-trusted users first).
I don't understand what you mean in your original post by "add an interface."

VLC comes with a default skin and other skins can be downloaded. Could you clarify your original question?

Hi rohanshrestha , it looks like the English language is NOT your primary language

most of us here can "decipher" google translate

please use that and write your question in your native language , then translate it into English
http://translate.google.com/

As the others in the previous posts have mentioned
Fedora 17 is DEAD and unsupported !
there is and NEVER will be any support for it !

please install Fedora 19

Also
fedora has mostly disabled the root account for the Graphical user interface
MOST GUI based programs will NOT work if launched as root

you run VLC as a normal NON root user
