Unhappy How Bad Did I Mess Up My System

Finally got PClinuxOS to install on USB drive but it would not boot. I reinstalled it and rebooted and it still got error no NTDLR. I decided to wait till tomorrow and rebooted my system. Changed the boot device back to the internal drive with win***sXP and up comes a command line with grub (or something like that) what do I do. I rebooted from the live disk to the USB drive and looked in the main drive everything is still there. Can this be fixed?????????

Someday I will Learn to back-up my drive

Well I would not worry about backing up your drive. You can use a live disk to do that, just copy them onto CD or flash drives. Most likely what happend is when you installed linux on your external drive it wrote over the master boot record on your main hard drive. I would suggest just trying to reinstall the boot loader off the live cd, if you search google you will find something that will help. I have not used PCLinuxOS so I am not sure how that distro does it but mandriva lets you do it pretty easy. That is what I would suggest. GOOD LUCK!
