How 2 release ports?

Hi all,

I'm not sure if this is an OS question or not, but I'll ask anyway!

I have just deleted an Oracle DB. When I go to install a new one with the smae ports, I am told they are in use.

Anyone have any idea how I release the ports? Is there a mapping table somewhere?

Thanks!

Robin.

Obviously if a port is in use then a process is running and using it. Just find the process and kill it.

lsof -i:[PORT]

lsof -p [PID]

netstat -na |grep [PORT]
