im trying to deny all access to all services from the outside on my realserver but I need to allow any host from within my network....

My hosts.deny file looks like this

ALL:ALL

my hosts.allow file looks like this

ALL: LOCAL mynetwork.net

But when I try to ftp or telnet from another host on mynetwork.net
i get connection refused for telnet and service not available for ftp.

I need to be able to ftp/telnet from within my network only

This is the example from the man pages but it doesnt seem to work for me.

When I remove the ALL:ALL from the host.deny file then It lets me in but EVERYBODY ELSE CAN TOO! which I dont want!

any thoughts?

Your asking some good questions. I would like to ask the same questions your asking.
