Hostname Question
Maybe I have asked this here already, but this IS the newbie forum.
Anyway, my problem is that my DSL connection provides me with a human-unreadable hostname, and when i try to send mail using mutt, my human-readable hostname (basically linux.local) is seen by the isp's mail relay and the emails bounce. When i use evolution or kmail however, this does not happen. I know that by using netstat or a few other methods, i can find out what my human-unreadable hostname is, but how do i make mutt aware of the correct name? I am using SuSE 8.1 which uses postfix as its mailer. Thanks for the help. Matt |
What do you have listed for to send e-mail in Kmail or evolution? Is it your postfix or is it the ISPs e-mail server address?
My broadband ISP policy is if I want to setup an e-mail server or just want to send e-mail using another e-mail account. I have to use their e-mail server address to send all my e-mails. You may want to read your ISP's policy when sending e-mails. |
