I am trying to change the hostname on my Mandrake 9.1 Linux installation. I thought the hostname file was located at /etc/hostname and that I could edit it with vi.

One problem is that I can't find the hostname file. There may be other problems that I don't know about.

Any help?

Hi Guyd

i am not sure about Mandrake distro, but i could edit /etc/hosts file in RH7.2 and enter IP address and hostname of my choice.
I hope u can find similar /etc/hosts file in Mandrake.

my bad, you set the hostname in /etc/sysconfig/network, then add an entry to /etc/hosts
