Hostname


When I set up Mandrake 10.1 the name of PC must have been set to "localhost" by default. How can this name now be changed to something more appropriate?

I believe that it can be set up with the network settings in the KDE configuration thingie.

Or you can use hostname. Type

You can also manually edit the /etc/hostname file, I think .

Add

HOSTNAME=whatever_name_you_want

to

/etc/sysconfig/network

Thank you - I have now been able to set the hostname as required by editing /etc/sysconfig/network .
