hosting .cfm? And data sources

Hi

We have just moved to a linux server for our webserver.

Is it possible to host CFM files? And if so, how do I create a data souce in linux? The database is in MS Access at present, is this going to cause us an issue?

TIA
Oli

Do try and consider the cost between time/money required to get the CFM application running, versus coding the application in, say, php and mySQL. MySQL will undoubtedly be a more suitable database than MSAccess, especially when considering that Access just isn't meant for a high volume of traffic on a data driven web site.

That having been said, however, you may be able to host ColdFusion files in linux. I know that back in the Allaire days (ColdFusion Server 4.5 and 5), they had ColdFusion Express which was a scaled down version of the server for Windows and Linux. You will need to talk to Macromedia about it though if you do not have the Server CDs, since I cannot find reference to the download on their site...

Additionally, here is an article about Migrating ColdFusion applications from Windows to UNIX that may be useful.

As far as hosting the MS Access database, I am certain there is a way, but it may not be advantageous to do so. Good luck!

Or, maybe my recollection is more hazy than I thought, and Express was only a Windows app.... apologies if so. <*mumbles something about getting old *>

Anyway, try some of these links. macromedia search for coldfusion + linux
