host name lookup failure

Hi,

I am a newbie on linux. Someone setup our mail server may be outsource the setup and config. i am assign to administer it. the problem would be when we are sending mail to other domain, the mail log says: Name server: yahoo.com.: host name lookup failure.

Another error I encounterd is: Error opening or locking INBOX.

any one who can help me?

we are using REDHAT AS 3.0 update 5 with SendMail as our MTA.

your help is highly appreciated.

I suspect this is a problem with nameserver lookups.
Can you include the contents of your /etc/resolv.conf
file?

Thanks for the help. you were right, I think ist because our DOMAIN and MX record is hosted in our Domain registrant. Our Internet DNS was given by our ISP where we host our mail server and the DNS for this is from our ISP. there were a conflicts on this i think and need to arrange everything in the right practise.
