Host key authentication working?


It seems that it is from the logs provided below. I'm using scp.

Here is the debug info:

lost connection


I used "scp -v -oPasswordAuthentication=no" so it will no ask for a password.

The host key is not the same thing as a public/private key. The host key is used as a protection against man in the middle attacks and saved in the ~/.ssh/known_hosts file. Did you create public/private keys?

Is public key authentication enabled on the server?

I assume that it can be enabled on the server.

I finally got the issue resolved with the ssh keys. I have another issue but it's in another thread
