Home Directory & C drive deleted at same time

I'm using Linux at my office. I noticed that both the "Home Directory" and my "C" drive had the same list of directories and files. I thought it was a duplicate and deleted the "Home" directory set of files but found that my "C" drive directories were also deleted. The directories/files could not be found in the Trash can. What can be done to get back all my lost directories/files?

What probably happened was that there was a hard-link between the Home directory and 'C drive', so when you change one you change the other. If its not in the trash and has been deleted as if by "$ rm -r -f Home", then you're pretty much screwed and it can only possibly be retrieved by getting the info using the file allocation table (thats actually a windows term, whatever its equivalent is in linux). This is usually a highly specialised thing, and may not even be possible. But since this was at the office, I'm sure theres probably important stuff worth forking cash out for.

Of course another way would be to load your backup (lol, like people make backups these days)
