hmm.. hidden system files need some help

hello everybody
i just reinstalled everything on this new hard disk, while i still i have my back up stuff in the old root disk
(where the system files were installed ) and I mkfs-mount- fstab everything was nicely and neatly done, however, when i opened up my old disk , there is nothing there, besides lost + found " but when i check the disk usage, it seems to be correct. but where did all my files go ? and i tired ls -a without luck.

any ideas ? thank you advance

It looks like either you or the installer ran mkfs against the old root disk.

mkfs creates lost+found.

Yes, your files are gone. I don't know of any way to recover the files from a partition that you have run mkfs against. If you have backup then you can restore from backup. Otherwise the files are lost.
