Booting from a CD to install, or did you already install?
We need more info besides "error loading operating system" - take a picture of the screen when it says that? Or is that all it says? When does this happen, before GRUB loads or after, when it's booting? Etc.
Did you installed Linux on Windows or there was earlier no OS running on the System.
If you installed Linux on Windows then it was you who did the wrong installation on the Windows.
If no other OS was there, DO let us know more about how you installed.
