Hi could use some help with dns

hi i have a debian server i just ordered and 3 domain names tho i just would like 1 to work for now anyway i have used this guide linux.justinhartman.com/DNS_Installation_and_Setup_using_BIND9

minus the first part to make it chrooted (which i dontthink should matter) i am getting an error on nslookup and pinging it but it seems to look ok when i do the dig @localhost ns1.pantalaimon.info

heres what i get from the other two commands

server:/etc/bind/zones/master# /etc/init.d/bind9 restart
Stopping domain name service...: bind.
Starting domain name service...: bind.
server:/etc/bind/zones/master# rndc reload
server reload successful
server:/etc/bind/zones/master# ping ns1.pantalaimon.info
ping: unknown host ns1.pantalaimon.info
server:/etc/bind/zones/master# nslookup ns1.pantalaimon.info
Server: 208.89.211.208
Address: 208.89.211.208#53

** server can't find ns1.pantalaimon.info: NXDOMAIN

server:/etc/bind/zones/master#

the dig returns this
server:/etc/bind/zones/master# dig @localhost ns1.pantalaimon.info

; <<>> DiG 9.3.4-P1.1 <<>> @localhost ns1.pantalaimon.info
