That worked great... Thanks to everyone who helped out with this. With the exception of games, I am now completely free of Windows. Hopefully they will come next....

you'll need to add a line in the startup file of your choice that will set
that at boot. /etc/rc.d/rc.local is probably fine.

yes. use mplayer or ogle that doesn't come with it and has dvd support compiled in.
