Question Hey, where'd my KDE panel go?

Somehow my panel (taskbar?) in KDE seems to have disappeared. I've been trying to figure out how to get it back, but I haven't, and it occurred to me that you guys have probably had this happen before and could save me some time.

Anyone?

Thanks,

Dani

Press <Alt>+<F2> to open a CLI (command line interface) and type "kcontrol" to open up the KDE control center, have a look under "Look & Feel--->Panel--->Hiding".

Could be a buggy install, what version are you using?

Yes, its a good idea to install all the packages for a new release.

If your installing from source on redhat then make sure you do "./configure --prefix=/usr/*where-rh-installs-to", the default is "/opt/kde" and if you do that you'll have problems getting it working.

Also make sure you are not in X when installing by tarball or rpm, you might want to try the rpms with this command (after they are in one directory)

rpm -Uvh --replacefiles --replacepkgs --nodeps *.rpm

That will basically install all the packages in that directory, quick and lazy way as well probably easier than tarballs. I've had the tab panel disapear in RedHat too, i've never had that problem im Mandrake i dont know.
