hey i got a few questions


hiya i just installed mandrake linux 9.1 yesterday after the last straw with windows formatted my hard drive and starting new and i was wondering three things

1. how to get my cd burner working it gives me a driver error or something like that its a genaric burner i got from my school
2. how to install a java virtural machine well i installed it i think..... on it so i can run limewire (is tehre any better p2p programs out there then limewire?)
3. any good ultilitys that i would need for linux such as windows has office, winamp and that sort

For the cd burner you'll need to have ide-scsi emulation and the user permissions setup.Mandrake 'should' have done that for you at installation.Try the k3b setup and see what goes wrong there (probably the easiest way).
no idea about limewire but there is gift with support for kazzaa and other p2p networks,there is mldonkey and there are official clients from edonkey for edonkey and overnet and more.
openoffice,xmms,mplayer,xine
Good places to look for software are sourceforge and freshmeat.The kde or gnome homepages can also be helpful in finding software.

For limewire you will need the java virtual machine which you can get from the sun os website.

If you need it I will find you a direct link.. otherwise just google it.
