help with proftpd


When ever I go to login my ftp I use the accounts root and it asks for a password and I try the root password and it does not work. if you could help

who's root password are you using ? the client or server's ?

Most FTP servers disable root logins for security reasons. FTP sends the password over the wire unencrypted, so it can be easily sniffed. This is a good way to get yourself 0wn3d, so to speak. You should use SFTP instad, and so long as your sshd is configured to allow root logins, it will go just fine.
