Help with permissions :(
Hello guys,
I have removed the Mozilla embedded in the Mandrake 8.0 and installed the newest one. But no one is able to start it except the root. I think it's a problem of privileges. As am new on linux I really need help :Pengy:'s cheer's "The race isn't always for the swifts but for those who keeps on running" |
Check using Konquerer what the permissions are for the file /usr/bin/mozilla
I think that this is the files which loads it up. Also, check the folder wherever you installed it, making sure that ppl other than root can access mozilla. |
It doesn't work
I checked the permissions on the user/bin/mozilla and the permissions are the same as anyother program. whenever I try starting it from konsol under KDE I get the error:
/usr/bin/mozilla: line 156: 1001 Segmentation fault $MOZ_PROGRAM -remote "openurl (about:blank,new-window)" 2>/dev/null >/dev/null Error sending command. But if i try launching it in the same way after suing root it works perfectly. Can you please give me some feedback??? :( thanks a lot I'd really appreciate any help I can get. :Pengy: 's cheers The race isn't always for the swift but for those who keeps on running |
what are the permissions on it?
you can try to chmod 777 /usr/bin/mozilla and that will un doubtfully give everyone and anyone access to the file. if that doesn't work, we know then its not a permission problem. |
