Help with kernel compiling under Mandrake Linux 8.1
How can I make sure I have the right kernel headers?
I'm afraid that the dreaded unresolved symbol problem may be caused proprietary kernel headers :(. I want to recompile Linux kernel 2.4.8, which comes with Mandrake Linux 8.1 and thus downloaded the kernel sources of Linux kernel 2.4.8 from Kernel.org under Windows. Am I required to download the kernel source from Mandrake?:newbie: |
hi there
u need a kernel source source from the kernel.org a good option u just need to configure according to ur needs, will give u hard time to identify the things there but will be good learning experince also u can try is to copy ur present kernel config file and copy that to the kernel source and run "make oldconfig" it will take the present configration and ask u only about new options this too has a problem, there has abeen a lot of changes from 2.4 kernel to 2.6 kernel so u might be prompted many times so it is upto to chooes a method acordingly regards gaurav |
