Help with installing packags on fedora core 1

I am very new to installing packages. I am trying to stay with RPM's until I get the hang of Linux. I am trying to install Apt right now. I get the same error message with other RPM's

[root@dhcppc2 apt]# rpm -Uvh apt-0.5.15cnc6-0.1.fc1.fr.src.rpm
warning: apt-0.5.15cnc6-0.1.fc1.fr.src.rpm: V3 DSA signature: NOKEY, key ID e42d547b

Then I use rpm -q apt....
apt ... not installed.

What am I doing wrong. The only thing I have gotten installed on this computer ever is Yahoo messenger. I have been reading everything I can on this and it is not working. Please help.

I'm not really an RPM expert but here is how I install RPMs

$ su -
enter my password
#rpm -i program.rpm

voiala its installed. tar.gz files aren't really too hard if you can't get the RPM to work (note that "su" and "su -" are differen't)

"[root@dhcppc2 apt]# rpm -Uvh apt-0.5.15cnc6-0.1.fc1.fr.src.rpm"

All programs come as both source packages and binary packages. In this case I think that you want to install the binary package but you are installing the source package (src.rpm). I suggest that you install the apt binary rpm. The binary rpm has a similar name to the source rpm except that the binary package name will end in i586.rpm or something similar.
