help trying to install ndiswrapper on fedora

Ok I have decided to set up fedora on my pc due to the fact that my computer science department uses the operating system and when attempting to install ndiswrapper in order to get the OS compatible with my netgear wg111t wireless usb dongle i keep getting the error message: "Cannot find kernel version in /usr/src/kernels/2.6.25-14.fc9.i686, is it configured?." after i enter the "make install" command into the terminal. As far as i know i have installed the kernel-headers and many other kernel related rpms that i found on the installation dvd.

P.S. please explain things step by step because im still pretty much a newbie

You should be using the livna repositories to add ndiswrapper, as described in the links:

http://www.fedoraguide.info/index.ph..._drivers_howto

http://www.fedoraguide.info/index.ph...ain_Page#Livna

It tells you how to add the livna repositories to yum and then add ndiswrapper

your yum error seems related to this recently developing issue:

http://forum.fedoraforum.org/forum/s...d.php?t=198209

fedora may be stopping installed updates at the moment.

i dont know if its an error with yum because when i try to browse the internet it also gives me the same error involving respond.xml

also i now have a new problem which is that when i enter the network settings it says that eth0 is active whereas the icon on the desktop just shows the network as being disabled

SEE:
http://forums.fedoraforum.org/showthread.php?t=199573

this will normally be taken care of on the FIRST update but seeing as you have not been able to update fedora9 install dvd .

open services
System / Administration / Services
and temporally ( while not using the wireless ) turn off" NetworkManager" and turn on "Network" .Use the check box to the left . and reboot .

Here is the main site for the livna repositories. You can compare their addresses with what you are currently attempting to use. Perhaps some settings have changed. You can also read instructions there and get support from their bug page once you read up and follow the posted advice:

http://rpm.livna.org/rlowiki/Bugzilla
