Help! Taskbar Items Duplicate on Logout/Login!
1 Attachment(s)
Hello,
Today I installed Debian 7.3 "wheezy" stable on a high-end AMD64 PC. I logged in to the GNOME desktop on my regular account, and everything seemed fine* (video, audio, Internet, etc) until I logged out and logged back in again... the time/date widget and system menu (with your name on it) duplicated. When I logged out and back in again, it duplicated again. I did it a few times and now I have several duplicated widgets, which pushed off the applications menu! I deleted and recreated my normal user account under a different user name, and the new user inherited the duplicated taskbar items! What is causing this nonsense? How do I fix it? *Prior to me encountering the issue: the fresh install was was running horrendously slow, so I installed the proprietary AMD/ATI Catalyst driver suite and adjusted the display resolution (dual screen extended desktop) and it appeared to work much, much faster. I do not know if this logout/login duplication occurred prior to the installation since I had not logged out/in prior. Thank you!!!!!!!! |
What are some of your system specs? What type of graphics card are you using. That will give a starting point
Type the following to find out graphics card details if you dont know them off hand. Code:
lspci | grep -ie 'display' |
AMD Phenom II X6
2x Radeon HD 5770 e/ Crossfire bridge (Crossfire currently disabled in Catalyst to allow for dual-monitor desktop) 16GB RAM Dedicated 2TB 7200RPM HD Never had a problem using Slackware =/ |
