Help!!! SSH Question
 

Please a am the newest of the newbies.

I am running RedHat Linux 7.2 on my server - SSH is located in /user/bin/

I have root access to the server for SSH but not for FTP

How do I transfer files from my windowXP PC to the server via SSH.

I downloaded putty and am able to connect with the server, but I don't know how to transfer files.

I am sure there are simple ABC's. but most of the FAQ pages I have found assume you have knowlege of SSH already!!

Please help with a few directions on the basics - which client to use and how to transfer.

download "pscp" or "psftp" from where you got putty

psftp is just like ftp but via ssh

Read man ssh. I'm not sure if putty can handle this, but i usually use scp in a ssh session to copy files from machine to machine.

I have tried to download pscp, but for some odd reason it will load on my PC.

Firewall maybe?

scp is the answer = thanks

I have just found WinSCP - freeware
