Help setting up Suse 10 partition on existing winXP system
Okay, I hop into the installation and I get to "shrink windows partition down to 36GB" of an existing 86GB partition....
only problem is I don't want to give that much to linux, so I go into the custom partition setup for experts (which i'm not) and I use the slider bar to adjust the amount I wish to divide with linux. Then when I hit continue, it says "you haven't setup a swap partition its highly recommended you setup a swap partition, would you like to setup one now?" how do I go about having a reduction of the existing windows partition to what I want and setup the swap partition w/o killing my windows XP partition? thanks. |
backup first, just in case.
Shrink that XP then create the swap partition (2x ram size), the / parition for the OS, about say 6 Gb, and then /home will be another partition, you may consider a fat32 as well to share data between OS's If you have problem partitioning, you may want to use a live cd like knoppix just to do the partitioning The Ntfsresize Frequently Asked Questions http://mlf.linux.rulez.org/mlf/ezaz/ntfsresize.html |
