Help! --- Running slow and I need to get my internet connection up...
I am a newbie to Linux and I am excited to learn more. I have swappable hard drive bays so I did an install to a single hard drive with Red Hat 9. I have a couple of questions.
Being the curious type that I am, I installed 'Everything', which took about 4.8Gigs. Red Hat 9 seems to run kind of slow compared to XP Pro. My System has an Athlon XP 1800 with 256mb of PC2700 so I was hoping that Linux would run at least as fast as XP. Should I uninstall the other "unnecessary" programs until I learn more? (i.e. server, programmer stuff, etc.) Will Linux (Red Hat 9) run on an old machine that I have with a Pentium 120Ghz and 16MB of memory? I could use some guidance on this aspect of the Linux OS.
Second, and most important for me, is my broadband connection. How do I get my RCA DCM245 Cable Modem and Broadband Internet account to work in Linux?
