can sumone pleeeeez tell me how ta install a printer driver, i'm so new at this, i kno i sound like a dumass but sumone please help, getting so frustrated :cry: if u can help...use baby steps...please, exact commands and everything. thanx

Some info. What distro? What software do you have installed. I suggest install cups and use the online setup. Open a web browser and enter http://localhost:631. This will invoke cups setup. All downhill from there.

What printer are you trying to install? Also the subject "Help Please" isn't very informative.

Well, as cage suggested:
Give us a little more information:
Distribution?
Brand/Model of printer?

distro: redhat 7.1
problem: cannot figure out how to install the driver, have read and read and read and read a bunch of crap that duzn't work, obviously it's something i'm doing wrong so that's why i need someone to mimic how they would do it so i can try.

Dunno about the usb part but try my previous suggestion. Do you have CUPS installed? If not try it. Otherwise with Red Hat try printtool.

p.s. if i forget to include my distro info in the post next time, it resides, everyone's, in the prof, any actual help would be much appreciated =) and sorry if i don't kno the best way to go about wording my post, as u can see i'm a NEWBIE, and tinkster, what exactly is the importance of this - P.S.: Using the sites spell-checker would

importance for you. However, I feel more
inclined to expand on problem solutions
if I can assume that the recipient of the
advice will be able to understand me.
