Help on LVM!

I'm playing around with setting up LVM..accidentally ran pvcreate on sda1 and sda2 which are my root / and /home partitions!! I was suppose to run pvcreate on sdb1 and sdb2.. now i appear to have no files in / ?? I cant even find the pvremove to undo the change..I have tried booting to rescue mode using cd 1. It says "You don't have any Linux paritions. Press return to get a shell. The system will reboot automatically after you exit from the shell". In the shell, i have the directories bin, etc, linuxrc, mnt, oldtmp, sbin, usr, dev, lib, lost+found, modules, proc, tmp, var. Commands for PV are only pvchange, pvcreate, pvdata, pvdisplay, pvmove, pvscan.

Can someone help pls.. i dun really want to reinstall it as I want to learn to to fix and troubleshoot problems as they come. Thanks.

If you have no files in / you most likely wiped your whole filesystem. The rescue cd might have those directories when going into rescue mode but I doubt it will rescue you if you've wiped everything. Confirm that before moving along.
