how do i know on what do do a fsck on? how do i do it? can someone please provide very detailed steps please...i have fedora 6

You can't expect decent answers if you provide no information.

Normally fsck will run automatically after x reboots or mountings of the drive
take a look at

What are you trying to do?
What are the problems?

What is this "do do" that you are in? What kind of device is it?

I certainly could not provide "very detailed steps" if I did not know any information and would imagine that no one else could, too.
