what distribution are you using?
thank you!
very much. but may i ask what you mean by distribution?
like are you using ubuntu, openSuSE, mandriva etc.
oh im sorry!
i am using ubuntu.
then you should be able to read the ntfs drive
you can just copy the files with the file manager from your windows xp drive to ubuntu |
hmmm i dont see them. both of my operating systems are on one hard drive. and i cant see my windows partition!

Have you tried to login using the admin account via safe mode? Another option is using the linux ophrack live cd. You can find it on sourceforge...
no havent... or i dont know actually. i have one account. how do you login as admin? and also, shouldn't ubuntu be able to see the partition in the "computer" like next to the file system?
it should be able to see it in Computer, trying mounting it manually
sudo fdisk -l(look for the name of your windows drive) sudo mkdir /mnt/windows sudo mount -t ntfs /dev/(put the name of the windows drive here) /mnt/windows you should at least be able to mount it read-only |
