Help needed for installing opensuse linux
 
Hello
i am very keen to study linux.Now i got a cd of opensuse linux 11.Can anyone tell me how to install linux? What are the important things to check before installing it?I have a fear that if i do something wrong i wont be able to work with the winxp also.Please help me....

First backup you,re data in case something goes wrong
Installing it self you have let say two options :
1) Make room for suse
2) Let suse do the dirty work
if you choice for the first one if suse come with the install proposal choice the expert option and tell here to use the free space only
If you go for the second one suse will shrink the space use by XP so that she can install her self
NEVER LET HERE USE THE HOLE DISK
BE careful that XP his mention in her proposal , mostly in a message such as ¨Set mount point c:/windows¨
and of course also how much space she left for XP

Here is a link to the openSUSE documentation Wiki. There should be more than enough information to help you get openSUSE installed. Take notes as you go (especially error messages, if any) and come back for help if you run into problems.
