HELP: Migrate to new server

Hello all,

I need to migrate a red hat box with kernel 2.4.18 from a server to another.

The first one had scsi disks with raid controller, and had defined two logical discs.

I copied with dd ( Automated Image Restore ) /dev/sda to /dev/sdc. sdc is a usb external disk.

After the first copy, i will repeat the process to copy from the usb external disk to the new disk SATA on the new server.

After that i donīt really know waht to do, i believe that iīm gona have some problems when i boot the new server.

Can someone help me with the steps after the second copy to the new server?

Thanks in advance.

Regards.

First of all make sure that you re-install the boot loader. Although it might have been restored ( as u used dd image ) but installing it once again will not create any harm.

Secondly if there is major change in hardware ( as compare to old system ) of the new box you might need to config some things which will be detected on boot time by kudzu.

Actual faliure can only be faced when you really boot the system on new hw. Don't worry loads of people here to help you out. :)
